VSG investigates: Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian and many more vegan restaurants in Houston, TX

Wow! Many options, large malls, vegan Chinese, vegan Vietnamese, vegan Japanese, vegan pizza, vegan Indian, you choose! But you have to know where to look. :)

Vegan Restaurants and Markets in Houston, TX

I started at the Hong Kong Food Market and was very excited. But then I realized people online were right, not a very clean market, a bit messy and not many vegan options as well. I walked the entire mall looking for vegan menus and didn't find any so ended up leaving to another market around the block.

I then found an awesome place accross the street and was very happy! It was a vegan vietnamese restaurant full of options. But the place was a bit obscure, and I didn't even get the name of the restaurant. If you do, please share with us under comments at the end of this page. See pics below.

Something I was surprised to see as well is there are many Whole Foods Markets around town. But the couple I went to, just like the Asian Market, had few vegan options on the menu and bar.

I then drove a lot around town and two great places were the Hermann Memorial Park and Rice Village. At the Park I was lucky to catch the free annual Japan Festival. It was full of music, food, shopping, martial arts and anime characters. :)

At Rice Village there were a variety of cool shops, restaurants and pubs. And I was happy to run into the "Little Couple's" pet store, Rocky and Maggie's Pet Shop. It was so cute!

Then right accross the street I enjoyed lunch at Shiva, a great Indian restaurant and for a low price. They have a great buffet with some good vegan options.

And here is another great tip from Hanan:

Hi Ursula! I read your post on vegan restaurants and markets in Houston and wanted to say thank you for compiling this list and for adding descriptions of these places! You're amazing! I am new to veganism and found it frustrating eating out when I had no time to cook. Living in Houston we are surrounded by burger shacks and bbq. I will definitely visit some of these places.

Have you visited a place in Rice Village called Local Foods? http://www.houstonlocalfoods.com/Local_Village That's mainly where I've been going. They have really tasty vegan options (the quinoa burger is my favorite!) Thanks again for this list and for your website!
