Over fifty years ago, Johanna Budwig was the first to highlight the benefits of "omega-3 " and the evils of transfat, which are being " rediscovered " today. But her name remains virtually unknown to scientists, the media and the general public.
This video shows you photos of the "Bundesanstalt Fur Fettforschung", the
Federal Institute for Fat Research in Germany where Dr. Budwig worked at. It explains that the Institute contributed largely to the connection between saturated and unsaturated fats. The video says that the woman who made the decisive discovery was Dr. Budwig, who showed the difference between the saturated and unsaturated fats. She was against the margarine industry and said that it caused cancer and other diseases.
She made many discoveries at the Institute of Fats Research and while working with Professor Kaufman, says her nephew Dr. Grunewald who is being interviewed in the video. She was very opposed to the hydrogenation of fats, so she protested. She was a strong personality he says.

The omega-3 deficiency in the diet leads to an imbalance of Omega 6/3 Ratio with consequences for the membrane function as well as for the balance of eicosanoids. The scientific experience of Prof. Otto Heinrich Warburg explains the relationship between cell proliferation (cancer) and the absence of oxygen (anaerobic metabolic imbalance of the cell). Dr. Grunewald explained this hypothesis with detailed modern concepts of cellular processes.
Dr. Budwig has extended this work and by the end of the 1940s presented her findings in the statement "Margarine makes cancer". In relation to the optimal ratio of linoleic acid to linolenic acid, linseed oil played an essential role in their diet.
